Graduate Studies Scholarships The Center for Brain Research is seeking a Research Nurse to assist with studies of biomarkers intended for neurological function and disease, and clinical trials of new neurological treatment. This position is for 5 years in the first instance, with the renewal of annual contract. The position is 0.6 FTE and is mainly in Tamaki Campus, Glen Innes, with functions in Grafton campus once a week on average is based. The Graduate Studies Scholarships beginning is ideal in April 2011, or a reasonable time thereafter.

The Graduate Studies Scholarships role requires current fiscal year, first aid, CPR and certification and phlebotomy skills and experience. Experience working with people with neurological disorders would be an advantage.

This position would suit someone who is well organised and able to multi-task, is self-motivated, reliable and has initiative. The Graduate Studies Scholarships candidate must have excellent communication and people skills and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Scholarship Description:The position (SKO 1352) is available at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Institute for Experimental Medical Research (IEMR), Oslo University Hospital Ullevål. EMRis devoted to basic and translational research with a particular focus on molecular mechanisms of heart failure. The Institute is part of a larger collaborative network in the Oslo region , which is supported by the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority and University of Oslo. Within this network IEMR has extensive collaboration with clinical cardiological departments and basic research groups. IEMR is also affiliated with the Nordic EMBL Partnership in Molecular Medicine, and is part of KG Jebsen Cardiac Research Centre.

The position is funded by the Norwegian Research Council for three years. The research project is part of a larger programme on signaling in stress- and cytokine-induced myocardial hypertrophy and heart failure.All work time will be allocated to research, research-related activities and research administration. The successful candidate is also expected to participate in specialized training and supervision of PhD students. Job description

We are currently seeking a research assistant for research on neurochemical modulation of behavioural control in the broad domains of reinforcement learning, motivation and value-based decision making. You will combine methods of experimental psychology, functional neuroimaging (fMRI), psychopharmacology and patient research to investigate the role of dopamine and serotonin in cognition, emotion and behaviour, with the ultimate aim to understand the neurobiological basis of a wide range of neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders.

Howard Fellowships – Howard Foundation Scholarships

Scholarship Introduction:
The Howard Foundation awards a limited number of fellowships each year for independent projects in selected fields. The Foundation targets its support specifically to early mid-career individuals, those who have achieved recognition for at least one major project. Approximately ten fellowships will be awarded in April 2011 for 2011-2012 in the fields of Creative Non-Fiction, Literary Translation (into English),Film Studies, Literary Studies.Stipends of $25,000 will be awarded to support individuals working on specific writing projects for the academic year 2011-2012. Howard Fellowships may not be used for filmmaking, to prepare exhibits, or to support institutional programs. There are no residency requirements for individuals who receive awards. We are aware that leave patterns and individual career plans do not necessarily correspond to the Howard Foundation cycle of awards for individuals, and fellowship recipients in a given year may accordingly postpone receipt of their fellowship funds, if that is more convenient for them.Fellowship recipients will be announced in April 2011.
